Special Projects
Working at the intersection of discovery science, ethical considerations and public engagement, the foundation has been supporting efforts that explore how to engage publics about social considerations regarding basic research, more proactively than traditionally has been done, as well as empowering scientists’ preparedness to navigate potential ethical and social considerations with their research.
In addition to establishing two Kavli Centers for Ethics, Science, and the Public, the foundation has supported landscape studies, new scholarship, Civic Science Fellows, and partnerships between scientists and other experts to bring ethical considerations and public engagement into basic science research.
